Movember

Good luck to all the guys who will be growing their moustaches for Movember. Taking part is such a fantastic fun way in which to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancers.

Primark Haul!! - October 2012

I love Primark Haul youtube videos! Especially this time of year. I believe this fascination stems from the fact that you can't see the clothes other than going into one of the stores. It can be very hit and miss at Primark for me so I like to know what they've got in before I go there as most Primark shoppers know it can get quite busy (understatement).
Sometimes I walk into Primark and find absolutely nothing and other times I can walk in and want to buy every item that is left in my size.

This was one of those occasions...I wanted everything in there but I managed to come away with only a few items.

A few good Youtube Primark Haul videos:

Lovely L'Oreal! L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Review

I love the range of colours L'Oreal' offers. All their colours are classy, classic and on trend. Their 5ml nail polishes are affordable and just cute, also who ever actually finishes their nail polish?  I bought the L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche in Boudoir Rose (204).
Easy and streak-free to apply however It does take a bit of time to dry but the result is worth the wait.  I've only had it on for a few hours so will report back on any chipping.

Monday Must have

Someone at work told me about these today! Nail Varnish Remover Pads in a little round tub. Perfect for your purse, smells nice and super handy when your nail varnish needs taking off midway through the day.
I bought this for £1.50 at Asda but even better Asda does there own version for 50p!

I bought both and Asda's own works just as well as 'Quickies' and both smell lovely. Love who ever invented these!

Maxfactor Foundation Review

I live in foundation! I can leave the house without lipstick, eye shadow, mascara, a shower (only joking). You get my drift I always wear foundation!

Maxfactor Second Skin - Natural

This is a liquid foundation that dries quickly so you need to apply all of it pretty much straight away in order to get full coverage.
Perfect if you want a glossy glowey look. Makes your skin look healthy and shiny.
The issue I have with the product - after a few hours the colour develops much darker than when you first apply it and you end up looking like you have a mask on so make sure you test the colour on you skin for a few minutes before purchasing to ensure you buy he correct colour.  I did try to use  a powder over the foundation but I still looked blotchy.
I often wear another Maxfactor foundation in Natural and even though this is also classed as Natural I definitely need a shade lighter!

Maxfactor Colour Adapt

If you had this foundation with the texture and glossiness of the Maxfactor Second Skin Foundation it would be my perfect foundation. However since this does not exist yet the Maxfactor Colour Adapt will suffice.
This is more like a powder cream than a liquid and be warned if you leave the cap off this becomes more powdery and difficult to apply.
It does however cover spots and blemishes and gives you an even matt finish.

John Frieda Blonder Spray review

Update:

I colour my hair professionally every six weeks but was getting a bit impatient with a few roots showing up so bought this product as a quick fix. Well I soon wished I'd just moved my appointment instead. The spray worked, dont get me wrong it changed the colour of my roots, not to the blond but a nice lovely GINGER. Now let me just say I dont mind ginger but not as a ombre mix of ginger and then bleach blond.
I do not recommend you use this if you have treated hair.

Best Bargain Makeup by a mile!

As you can see from the pic I am a a big fan of the Natural Collection. It's cheap and cheerful.
Boots often has a 3 for £5 offer on this collection and its hard to resist. On one of these occasions I bought their mascara (brown), lipstick and powder (warm).
The lipstick colours are great for an everyday look and they do have a relatively good selection of colours however the lipstick needs reapplying every hour, it has no lasting power and does not moisturise your lips at all.

Their powder is great. It doesn't set in my wrinkles and frown lines like the Rimmel powder I bought and stays on all day. It also feels light, unlike Rimmel's Stay Matt Pressed Powder which is a heavy powder that has that gives you that 'caked in makeup'feel. Yuck.
The mascara is allright and what do you expect for the price. It does define your lashes but you need atleast two coats even for an everyday work look.

Verdict: Don't bother with the lipstick, buy the powder and eyeshadow.

Primark!

I love Primark and then other days I think it's just too busy and there is nothing worth buying however I went last weekend and I found these Primark gems!
Lovely sheer black chiffon top for £12! The black top has white pearl and bead embellishment around the collar, I've worn it to work but probably best worn out with a nice pair of skinny jeans.
(Tip-It is see-through so make sure you pick up a black strappy vest if you haven't got one!)

Butterfly top again a bargain at £12 it is perfect for work and a lunch date!

Boots Saturday Night Makeup Haul!

I went into Boots to quickly buy a pink lipstick for going out tonight...20minutes later I walked out with £15 worth of makeup and my pink lipstick. Honestly I don't know how this happens.

Since my night has been cancelled I thought I'd try these lovelies out.

1. BarryM Nail Paint - 161 Vivid Purple

This is exactly why I write this beauty blog! I hate buying nail polish that you need to apply two coats, it really winds me up because for one thing - you won't know until you buy it (waste of money) and two - waste of time-who these days have the time to sit and wait for the first coat to dry? (rant over) The nail paint is quite watery so you only need to put a small amount on your brush. Once you have done two coats it doesn't look like the shiny vivid purple paint that you see in the bottle. I really liked the pot when I saw it but it's a miss for me I'm afraid.

2. 17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish - Mint Choc Chip

Yum! I love the new Spring pastel colours. Anything named after a dessert or sweet-something wins me over quite easily to be honest.

The label on the back recommends that you apply two coats on the back for                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         maximim coverage and I'd agree although you could easily get away with only one if you are in a rush.
The colour on my finger nails is pretty much a perfect match to the colour in the bottle which is what I look for in a good nail polish colour.
This is the first time I've bought this type of blue and I think it will wear great with a spring wardrobe.

Definitely a good addition to your spring makeup collection!

3. Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate - 05 Rossetto/Rouge A Levres

I like Rimmel products they are just a bit standard. You know what you are going to get when you buy Rimmel. That's not a bad thing ofcourse their products are never going to wow you but you won't be disappointed either. Which is exactly why I often buy Rimmel products.
This lipstick is from the new Kate Moss collection and was on sale in Boots so I bought the last one in this colour. It's an easy-everyday pink you can wear for work. It won't last all day so you'll have to reapply it every hour or so I find. It has longer staying power than the Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick Range (see below).

A classic and easy to wear lipstick.

4. Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick - Cranberry

I didn't realise how similar the Rimmel and Natural Collection lipstick was untill I got home. I picked up the Natural Collection first because I know their pinkish lipsticks wouldn't be too over the top-pink and ended up picking 'Cranberry' which is pretty much the same colour as the Rimmel's 05 Rosetta on me however the Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick is half the price but unfortunately don't last as long and not as moisturising as the Rimmel lipstick. So if you plan to make this an everyday lipstick I'd recommend you opt for the Rimmel instead as it moisturises better and lasts slightly longer I found.

5. Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Eyeliners - Black

I go to a large Boots store and this was the last Black eyeliner in this makeup collection so I am guessing I am not the only one that spotted this little bargain. If you like your eyeliners grab one of these for a steal under £3!
